Project Details: Kankakee Community College commissioned Carlile Architects to create a design to renovate the counters across its Student Services Department. The college sought a unified and modernized appearance to foster a consistent atmosphere within the expansive office space.
The final design incorporated contemporary laminate counters, fusing the Registration Office, Accounting Office, and Financial Aid Office seamlessly. This cohesive approach creates a unified visual identity while also facilitating the distinction of each individual office.
The counters integrate various levels to optimize functionality. This includes walk-up sections for convenient customer access, small display ledges for showcasing important information or materials, and desk-height surfaces customized to enhance staff efficiency and ensure easy access to workspaces.
The out-facing desk walls were finished with durable laminate in a stylish modeled steel gray hue, accented by sleek black and pewter stripes. Additionally, dividers crafted from brushed glass were strategically installed to uphold privacy and delineate individual spaces during student/staff interactions. This thoughtful design element ensures that each interaction remains confidential and focused, while also contributing to an organized and welcoming environment.
