Roof Replacement (IDOT)

Overview:  The Storage Building at the Pontiac Traffic Facility underwent repairs to fix water issues in its truck garage bays. The 5,184 square-foot building had problems with water seeping in from the roof and exterior walls.

 

Project Details: The original roof was a built-up roof (BUR) system, with a later addition of a standing seam metal roof that sloped from the front to the back, forming a shed roof.

To address the water problems, the solution involved removing both the metal roof and the existing BUR system down to the wood decking. A TPO membrane system was then installed over tapered insulation, creating a new shed roof. This design allowed water to flow into a new gutter and downspout system. The edges of the roof were carefully sealed with coping caps and roof drip edges to ensure water-tight protection. Additionally, the new TPO system was designed to create a waterproof seal around any existing roof openings

The scope of work required an assessment of the existing roofing system, design documentation for repairing/replacing the roof as determined necessary.
